Role: Junior Level Designer
While working at Vicarious Visions, I had the opportunity to work on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 as a Junior Level Designer. I was the primary level designer of 5 levels: School, Mall, Skate Park, Streets, and Skatestreet. As level designer I was tasked with: creating/updating level collision markup based on legacy level layouts and new environment art, setting up legacy and designing new goals for the player, setting up legacy and designing new gaps, setting up splines for areas where the player can grind, and designing solutions for issues caused by legacy level layout not aligning well with updated handling.
As well as working on my own levels I also: helped with work on some of the other designers’ levels, designed in-game challenges for players, and collaborated with other departments including environment art and quality assurance to ensure the final game would be up to our high standards.
